Gulab Jamun Recipe Using Ready-made mix With Tips(ಗುಲಾಬ್ ಜಾಮೂನ್ ಮಾಡುವ ವಿಧಾನ)

Gulab Jamun ಗುಲಾಬ್ ಜಾಮೂನ್ is one of the easiest and tasty sweet cum dessert.

It could be either prepared for festivals like Diwali, Dasara, Holi etc ( But not vrathas) . Also it is suitable if any sudden guests arrive home.

Ingredients Needed:

1 Ready made packet around. ರೆಡಿ ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟ್ –> 250 grams Orkay , Maiyas, MTR,Achi etc
Sugar ಸಕ್ಕರೆ-> 250 grams
Water : Sugar ratio –> Equal, 3 cups each
Ghee ತುಪ್ಪ – 1 tspn
Cardamom ಏಲಕ್ಕಿ 2 to 3 powdered with Sugar in a mixer/Mortar and pestle


[1] Mix Gulab Jamun mix with 1/4 cup of water or just sprinkle water to make a soft pilable dough. Knead it very well with the backward side of the fist.

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೇ ನೀರು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಳಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಮುಖ್ಯ…

[2] Keep aside for 5-10 mins… ಒಂದೈದು ನಿಮಿಷ ನೆನೆಯಲು ಬಿಡಿ…

[3] Sugar Syrup ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಪಾಕ::: Put 1:1 measure of Sugar and water in a pan and keep stirring continuously until sugar dissolves and mixture starts to boil (boiling would be enough for this sweet, extra care on consistency of syrup is not much required, hence it is an easy sweet to try even for beginners ). Keep it aside to cool. To this add cardamom powder or rose essence for good aroma and little Kesar for color.

[4] Now heat oil in another pan for deep frying.. Another side, take the rested pilable dough from step 1 and 2, and knead it well once again. Take some oil/ghee in hand smear it over the palm and gently make small rounds and deep fry..

Keep aside for it to cool and then soak in the Sugar syrup in step 3.

Serve it in bowls and enjoy with kids/guests. 🙂


Important Notes:

Though many of us know the Jamun making procedure, there are few hints which might be helpful tips:-

[1]  Kneading the dough, as soft as possible. ಹಿಟ್ಟನ್ನು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನಾದಬೇಕು.

ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪವೇ ನೀರು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಲಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ…

[2] Making the rounds ( before frying ) into a very soft textured ball, so that the resultant texture also remains soft.

ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಉಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ, ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಪಾಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಂದಾಗ ಗಾತ್ರ ಉಬ್ಬುತ್ತದೆ… ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆದಷ್ಟೂ ಗೆರೆಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ,ಉಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ…

3]Making small balls are enough, because the size increases once the ball is soaked in Sugar Syrup.

[4] Before soaking the jamun balls in sugar syrup, cool either the Sugar syrup or the deep fried balls very well or if possible both. If both are hot, definitely there are chances that the jamun breaks out immediately.
ಉಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕರೆದ ನಂತರ, ತಣ್ಣಗಾದ ಮೇಲೆ , ಬಿಸಿಯಾದ ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಪಾಕಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾಕಿ ನೆನಸಿ… ಒಂದೊಂದು ಸಲ ಉಂಡೆ ಗಳು ಒಡೆಯಬಹುದು…

[5] We can make the shape into small ovals or triangular ones (by folding into triangle ತ್ರಿಕೋಣ) than the regular round shaped jamun balls, especially for kiddos . 🙂


[6] Fry on low medium flame.. Soak in sugar syrup for atleast 30 minutes.. 100 grams of mix makes approximately 25 to 30 jamuns.. 💐💐

ಜಾಮೂನ್ ಉಂಡೆಗಳನ್ನು, ಬಿರುಕಿಲ್ಲದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಉರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆಯಿರಿ… ಉರಿ ಜೋರಾದರೆ, ಒಳಗಡೆ ಬೇಯದೆ, ಜಾಮೂನ್ ಕಪ್ಪಾಗುತ್ತದೆ… ಹಾಗೂ ಒಂದರ್ಧ ಗಂಟೆಯಾದರೂ ಪಾಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನೆನೆಯಬೇಕು…


ಕೆಳಗೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿರುವುದು, ಒಣಕೊಬ್ಬರಿ ತುರಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಳಿಸಿದ, ಡ್ರೈ ಗುಲಾಬ್ ಜಾಮೂನು, ಬೇಕರಿ ಅಥವಾ ಮದುವೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಶೈಲಿಯದು.. ಅದು ಬೇರೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ರೀತಿಯ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತದೆ…
ನೀವು ಬೇಕಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಪುಡಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಹೊರಳಿಸಬಹುದು….!!!
